Legal Question in Personal Injury in North Carolina

I have some concerns with my attorney so I am considering terminating my attorney-client contingent fee agreement. The agreement states if the client terminates before the case is resolved, the law firm will have a lien upon any subsequent recovery equal to 40% of the settlement. If theres no recovery, does that mean I will not owe the attorney anything?

I wasnt sure what state to put. I live in North Carolina, my case is part of litigation taking place in Louisiana and my attorney is in Texas. Thanks for your help!

You probably need to direct this question to an attorney in Louisiana, as their laws and rules for contingency agreements and contracts will likely apply. Good luck.
