Legal Question in Personal Injury in North Carolina
injured at work now im paying the medical bills
My fiance worked full-time, under the table for our landlord. He got injured at work by walking the boss's dog.
Now she refuses to pay the $1000. MRI bill. After he was cleared form the doctor, she told him not to come to work until Dec.1st because she had too many court precedings to attend. That was the last time we heard from her, she never told him what happened with his job or why all of a sudden he wasnt working. Several messages were left on her phone and no calls were returned. Now almost a month later we are getting a eviction notice and they turned off our water, plus the medical bills that have not been paid. It is because of her that we have not been able to pay rent because she never told him whether or not he had a job. Now we are way behind with the threat of being evicted. What can we do?

Re: injured at work now im paying the medical bills
There is no quick fix. If the landlord had 3 or more employees, workers' comp insurance was required and you should file forms 18 and 33 ASAP. Call the IC at 1-800-688-8349.
If workers comp remedys are not available or if you want an attorney, call the NC Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service at 1-800-662-7660.
