Legal Question in Personal Injury in North Carolina

I was involved in serious car wreck on January 18, 2012. It was my father n law, my brother, my friend, and myself. My father n law was the driver, I was on the passenger side, and my brother and friend was in the back seat. We was traveling from Salisbury North Carolina to my home in Georgia. The accident took place on Interstate 85 in Rowan County in Salisbury NC. A guy lost control of his vehicle and came back and hit us head on. The four of us was taken to Rowan Hospital and then they rushed me to the Trama Center in Wake Forest because I had complications from my bladder wires which was inplanted from a semi truck wreck 3 years ago. Both cars was completely mashed potatoed. This car wreck broke my pelvic broken exactly where the device is located. But everyone had injuries and was fortunate enough to make it back home. Now here's the problem, my brother and friend wants to try and work something out with the IC because they have witnessed the torture I am experiencing with my current WC and Personal Injury case. And they need money right away ESP my brother because he got fired on January 20th for the simple fact he didn't show for work. Although he had good reason his jerk supervisor did it anyway. But that's a whole different legal situation he will pursue. So how would they go about doing that or is a good idea in which I told them it wasn't? My father n law is 50-50 on pursuing but is not yet sure. As for me I have no idea what I should do. Opt out now and get it over with because I have 2great current cases pending or do the responsible thing? I have major injuries from the semi truck wreck and 7surgeries later this happened. We stay in Ga and know nothing about North Carolina law. And also the other driver was cited for reckless driving and improper lane changing. Thanks for your help!

You may be able to get "Med Pay" from your individual insurance companies if you need money now. Otherwise, the insurance company will not generally agree to give you any money until you either settle the entire claim or win in court. You don't want to settle your claim until you are finished with medical treatment or are sure how much medical treatment you will require in the future. Each person has a separate claim and can settle their individual claim without affecting any other claim.
