Legal Question in Personal Injury in North Carolina
I would like to know if I have a valid claim ...
On June 21,2006, I was walking down a hallway in a military medical clinic on a military base - I slipped on some water that was on the floor (no warning triangles or anything and the clinic staff did not know that there was water on the floor) and broke my kneecap. It was raining outside and aid was rendered in minutes after my fall. Several people have told me to sue - I would just like to know if I have grounds for taking legal action since 1. It was raining outside and 2. I was on a military base. I was taken to the hospital by my husband who was across the street in our personal vehicle(it was late afternoon and everything was closing down) I had secured a job position earlier in the day to start the following day but I called the employer and informed her of my mishap. The military hopsital saw me through three casts, sent me off base to physical therapy and paid for all medications prescribed. As I stated above, I would like an answer as to whether I have a case or not.

Whether you have a claim depends on a lot of variables. You would have to show that the clinic was negligent, which generally requires you to show that they either created the condition, or that they knew or should have known of it. Further, if you should have seen the water, then you probably cannot recover. There also may be issues of immunity to consider. You should probably consult an attorney.
