how do i add my mother to the deed to my house in nc. she does not live with me. i am the sole owner of the house. i do not want her to be responsible for the mortgage.

Simply sign a deed giving her half of the property. She would only be liable for the mortgage if she signs onto the mortgage. Beware that sometime mortgage companies will accelerate the loan if any transfer occurs.
