Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

Hose Closing

We did not close on a house under a clause in the contrat, so it was legal. Do we owe the closing attorney who prepared the closing docs? She was totally in the sellers corner and tried to force the closing with threats, so it seems crazy that I pay her for helping the seller.

Re: Hose Closing

You may owe the settlement company some money. However,it couldn't hurt to look at the settlement company's contract. You state some of the many reasons why the buyer should select the settlement company, and why many buyers run all contracts and problems by an independent real estate attorney (rather than the settlement attorney who is actually supposed to serve both parties). Having an agent who is also a real estate attorney (as I am although I take on only one of these roles per transaction) can also help you avoid many of these problems to begin with.
