Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina
if land purchased in 1992 paid for in 2001 had two owners not married and one passes away after being married to someone other than the second owner after land was paid for does the spouse of the owner that passed away have a claim to the land this is in north carolina

it depends on how the property was owned. If the joint owners reserved the right to survivorship in their deed, then the other joint owner keeps it all. If they did not reserve the right of survivorship, then the spouse has a claim.
