Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina
Hi..
I live in North Carolina. I signed a lease to rent a house, starting 12/1/12-11/30/13. I put a security deposit and first months rent down. I got my key yesterday11/29/12. I have not moved in yet. The landord spoke with me today and has to many restrictions. I have decided I don't want to move under his conditions. The lease states "A security deposit 0f $875.00will be charged before the tenant takes possession of the unit. A 30 day notice is required before terminating tenancy following the inital rental period 12 months,or security deposit will be forfieted. Notice of termation must be givien before date on which rent is due for the month in which the lease will be terminated." I have Not moved anything into the house and have not got the electricty turned on yet. Can I get all my money back?

It is not likely you can get your money back. Once you sign the lease, you have entered into a bindign agreement. You may have an avenue to leave if the landlord's restrictions were brought to your attention after you signed the lease. Otherwise, you are liable for what you paid so far and the rent unp until the landlord re rents the home.
