Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

North Carolina Eviction

I receive a letter today from my landlord stating he wants me out in thirty days. I am current on my rent. I know that in NC he must file a small claims action to be heard in Magistrate's court, and that I can present my case. However, the only reason he is evicting me is because someone complained about the condition of my grass. My grass is in complete compliance with the city ordinance. Based on this, what are my options for extending this eviction process to 90 days if the landlord doesn't agree to do it voluntarily? I am building a house and will be in it within the 90 days and I don't want to move twice!

Re: North Carolina Eviction

Just let him take you to small claims and defend it. The magistrate may rule in your favor. If he doesn't, then appeal it to district court which will buy you additional time.
