Is it OK for a person named as a defendant in a suit to talk to the plaintiff ou

A suit is filed against an association of which you are on the board of directors. Is there an issue with you talking to the plaintiff directly, without either laywers party being present, to try and find a peaceful resolution to the suit?

I would not reccomend it. It is not illegal per se, just not too smart. You could call and ask his lawyer to set up a meeting or you could ask your lawyer to call his lawyer but I would not reccomend, especially when both sides are represented by attorneys, contacting the opposing party. You are simply asking for trouble.
