Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina
We just purchased a home from an individual. We closed on Friday at noon and moved into the house on Tuesday. When we moved in we noticed a strange noise and a blinking red light on the device that pumps sewage from the house to the county lines. During the home inspection that was done approx. 2 weeks before closing, a problem was identifed. The current owner called a professional plumber and they replaced a celanoid, but did not find any other issues. We have now been told that the pump and wall of the device needs to be replaced at a cost of $3300. Is this something I should be paying or should the previous owner be held liable for the costs?

That is way too complicated to answer here. See a real estate lawyer--other than the one who did the closing.
