Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

Right of way question

I have a 1.23 acre lot w/ a house and the state wants to make a turning lane at the intersection......This will take a 17 foot deep section off my road frontage.......it will also take a few trees that really contribute to the landscape.......i do not live in the house, but i feel it will make selling it harder to do........they have offered $1000.00 for the 17' X 75' land........I am not sure if this is fair....What should i do

You will probably need to consult with a real estate attorney who handles these types of matters if you would like to contest it. The state would typically have the right to take property - it is a question of how much they will pay.
