Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

Sale of Real Property after Probated

My husband died this year without a will - no children, I am the sole survivor - so I am going through my county Probate Court to finalize his property. After the process is complete, do I have to hire a lawyer to transfer the house/lot to my name - it is in his name only at this time - in order to sell the property? I have a potential buyer at this time.

You will probably need an attorney to transfer title to the buyer. When the buyer purchases the property, he or she will have a closing attorney. You can probably have that attorney prepare the deed or you can hire your own attorney.
