Legal Question in Tax Law in North Carolina

I received my W-2 form from my employer Friday of last week. While looking it over I noticed a couple of mistakes. One was that my W-2 form says that they only with held $148.00 for Federal and $492.00 for state. So I gathered all my pay stubs and added all the amounts that had actually been with held from my pay and they had actually with held $ 1,004.86 for Federal and $ 816.00 state. I plan on meeting with them to discuss this matter but need to know my rights before I do. In any case There is money that was with held from my pay checks that may not have been sent to the Government, and that I did not receive. Because it was with held. What should I do? Also if they offer to pay me the missing money should I accept and then file my taxes on what they sent or is this another legal matter altogether?

Before you get too deep into your concerns. It is very possible the W-2 is just a mistake. So if the W-2 is just a mistake they can print you a new one with the accurate information. If they refuse to correct it or call it is accurate, show them your paystubs. If this does not work, then you should get your taxes done by a CPA or a VITA (IRS Volunteer Income Tax assistance Program, there are many in your area). Explain to them what is wrong with your w-2 and they can guide you.
