Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

I am a 17 year old living in the state of North Carolina who has been charged with speeding 62 in a 45 and attempting to elude arrest. My court date is in a couple weeks. What kind of sentence should I expect? Is it possible to make a deal with the prosecution/judge for a lesser sentence? How would an attorney aid me in this process? Thank you for any advice.

62/45 is a criminal traffic violation and will suspend you if you are convicted and cause a huge insurance increase. However, the charge of flee and elude is even more serious and can be a felony. If so, in addition to all the nasty things that go along with a felony, you would likely lose the car you were driving. At 17 you are probably not able to successfully negotiate a plea bargain with the ADA so you need an attorney. If this is a situation where you are trying to handle things yourself on the down low to keep mom and dad from finding out - don't do that or you may find yourself in jail. Bite the bullet, let mom and pop know what's going on and hire an experienced criminal law attorney if you don't - you are likely to have a very bad day in a couple of weeks.
