Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

insurance and traffic citations

if i am driving someone else's vehicle and the owner of the car is with me,we have an accident at 2 miles per hour, when the police run the tag on the vehicle i'm driving it comes back no insurance, once again not my vehicle ..how can they charge me for not having insurance on the car ,instead of charging the owner who is sitting right there,,can i be charged for no insurance on a car that is not mine??and can they revoke my license for that?once again it was not my car i was driving and the owner was seated next to me.thank you for your time.

Re: insurance and traffic citations

they can charge the driver of a vehicle for no insurance even if it is not his car, drving without insurance would be 3 DMV pts and wouldn't automatically, by itself, take your license

good luck
