Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

Used a lawyer for a prayer for judgement

I used a lawyer for a traffic ticket in July 2006. The letter I received form the lawyer stated he got me a prayer for judgement which is valid in my state of NC. My insurance was renewed and it swed a ticket. I got a copy of my driving record which showed the ticket with a reduced charge. I spoke with the DMV. They said the cord record shows the lawyer got a reduced ticket, not a prayer for judgement. My question is what is my legal course of action since the lawyer agreed to get me a prayer for judgment wic I have not ad in more than 5 years, my letter form him states he got me a prayer for judgment and the paperwork I signed for his services states a prayer for judgment. I tried calling his office and his assitant stated he would call me back which he did not and I called again and was told the letter migt be a mistake. I think I need a lawyer, but not sure. Please help

Re: Used a lawyer for a prayer for judgement

I'm not sure what to tell you. If you really want a prayer for judgment, then you should file a motion for appropriate relief with the help of an attorney (you might want to get your lawyer to do it for free).

But, why do you want a prayer for judgment anyway? You need to understand your record first. Has your insurance gone up? If you live in NC and that is the only ticket you have received in the past three years and it was reduced to 10 miles per hour over or less, then I would prefer that since I feel it is better to save your prayer for judgment.
