Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

Requirement to show in traffic court

I am from Virginia. I was driving on interstate 95 and was given a speeding ticket for driving 87 in a 70. The officer told me I was required to show up in court, even if I was pleading guilty. I would like to know what consequences might be taken if I were not to show up to court. There has to be people from even farther away than me on vacation that get tickets. What consequences can North Carolina do to me if I were not to show?

Re: Requirement to show in traffic court

If you failed to appear in the North Carolina court on this kind of charge, the judge most likely would decide to try you in your absence(assuming that the officer was there) and render a verdict, accordingly.
