Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina
I got my first speeding ticket today he said I was going 73 in a 55 the state tropper was driving 100ft in front of me he pulled over I looked at my speed I was going under 55 and he turned on his lights and pulled me stating I was going 73 when I was driving behind him. I did not agree but took the ticket he handed me and drove away. Can I get a Prayer For Judgement && how much will I owe the day of court if granted one?

If the district attorney in your district will allow it, your best bet is to have the charge of 73/55 reduced to Improper Equipment. If this is allowed you will need to be prepared to pay $263 the day of your court date. You may be able to get a PJC if you know the proper procedure for requesting it in your district (eg. some judges will require that you present a drivers history record check). The cost for the PJC will be either $188 or $190 depending on the rate of speed that you end up pleading to. However, I would advise against the PJC. If this is really your first ticket, you could also simply request the district attorney consider reducing the speed form 73/55 to something like 65 (or less) in a 55 and you would be fine for insurance purposes however you would receive DMV points on your license. The cost for a reduction (unless the judge modifies it) is $198 to $203, again depending on what speed you actually plead to.
Or you could hire a traffic attorney to handle all of this for you!
