Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina
I was stopped in Iredell County on I40 and the state tropper stated I was doing 75 in a 60 mph zone. I have no driving record / no tickets or violations. I went to see the DA today and he offered me a 9mph over ticket. I mistakenly did not take my driving record with me. I told the DA I wanted a Prayer of Judgement. He stated he could not accept a plea today but that he would continue it until next month in district court. Would me having brought my driving record have made a difference in what I was offered by the DA? I'm thinking they already knew what my record was. Should I hire a lawyer to represent me now in district court or just plead the Prayer of Judgement as I stated to the DA I would?

If it were me, I would rather have 9 over than PJC and save PJC. 9 over has no insurance consequences if it is only moving violation in three year period. You would get dmv points but no insurance increase and then you save the PJC. I would call attorneys in Iredell to see if they give improper equipment there b/c that would be better than 9 over or PJC.
