Traffic Court Trial In Craven County
I recently plead not guilty to a ticket of 54 in a 40 because I believe the officer mistook my car for another that he had radar on. I believe I have a good case and a trial date was set for next month? What can I expect at trial and are there any resources that I can use to prepare?

Well you probably want to find some books about trials - maybe NOLO has something? Also, familiarize yourself with the statute and the administrative code regarding radar. There are some publications on radar device requirements, certification and training that you might want to send away for - I think it is the NC Justice Academy that publishes them. I would assume you want to try to do some discovery - figure out what model the officer used and do research on that model to establish the possibility that it clocked the wrong car. Also prepare for the officer to testify that he estimated your car to be going 54. By the way, if you were speeding at all and admit it, you can still be convicted of a lesser charge (for instance 45 in a 40). If Craven County offers an improper equipment, then I would probably take that over a trial.
