Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina
Old Traffic Tickets 1989
My husband lived in NC, and then moved to Indiana in 1989. And he has Indiana drivers license he went to renew them this year and was told that NC had something against his driver's license and they wouldn't renew them. So they gave him a reference #. And we called and were informed he had 3 ticket/ 1 speeding with 1 non-moving violation and then another seperate ticket for a non-moving violation. So they needed $190.00 so I mailed the money.
And talked BMV and they needed $50. for reinstatement fee mailed they then we spoke to BMV again and they are still showing a ticket not paid. Called court again and they said they need another $185. to pay the second non-moving ticket. Then he was informed stating March 06 to March 07 that his driving privileges would be suspended in NC for this time period. And how IN looks at this will be his problem. So how can they do this for a speeding ticket and an expired inspection sticker and seatbeat ticket??
Thank you for your help

A little confused as to your message. It sounds that your husband paid a couple of tickets in NC and had one ticket outstanding. Then you say NC is suspendign his license even though you say he is last licensed in Indiana.
Here is what i think happend. Your husband had the first set of tickets and he never took care of a second set (i say set, because the seatbelt, registration and speeding probably came on the same day) and the second ticket was for another day. So thats probably what happened. Don't know what the law is in NC, but indiana typically will honor other other state's tickets by enforcing them on Indiana resident's licenses. Would be happy to talk to you about this on the phone if you would so choose.
