Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in North Carolina

car from father's estate

my father passed away October, 2006. He had a car he was paying for and wanted me to have after his death. I have been making payments on it but have not changed it over into my name. I did not know if I need to contact the finance company first or go to the DMV. His car was registered in another county, different from where I live and I need to pay taxes on it here to get a sticker for the tag. What do I do? I am executor of his estate and my lawyer is hard to get in touch with that is settling things and he has not given me a clear answer on this problem. Help!!

Re: car from father's estate

I don't know off the top of my head, but would start with the DMV and find out what is required to transfer the title. You will most likely need something from the Estate office.
