Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in North Carolina

Income tax return

My sister passed one year ago in the state of North Carolina. She left a will. I was the executress. The final closing/probate of business regarding her will was in April. The home she had has not been sold. She left it in trust to my children. I filed her taxes. The return for state and federal are back. What do I do with the money? Can i sign the checks over to the mortgage company to pay the mortgage?

Re: Income tax return

I would imagine that any money that comes to her after she passed away is part of the estate. It would probably need to pass through the estate. You may need to re-open the estate.
