inheritance from a will

I had a very dear friend who I took care of for several years. She died on 3/1/07 from natural causes. Her financial advisor's office called me and told me that she had left me some money in her will. They said that they were going to send me a letter stating her request in the will. That was a month ago and I have still not heard from them. My question is how long does it take to settle an estate and to inform benenficaries of the will?

It takes awhile to settle an estate. However, the will is public record so you can get a copy from the Clerk of Court in the County where the will was filed.
