on a joint account what is the difference between or/and?

I am assuming that you are referring to something like a stock brokerage or bank account. "Or" means that the bank or stock brokerage can pay the money to either person named (e.g. pay to the the order of A OR B). "And" means that the bank or broker can only pay the funds to you and anyone else named on the account (e.g. pay to the order of A AND B). Hope this clears it up for you.
