Can the lawyer drawing up the will be one of the witnesses

I would not recommend that. Get 2 independent witnesses who receive nothing under the will and get the will notarized. If you can't find anyone, go to a place like a UPS Store or Office Max, Office Depot or Staples. These places have notary services and there is always a customer in there that you can use for witnesses.
