how do i recover money invested in mutual fund in 1989 by my grandmother who died in 1996 when i was 10 yrs.old and the state of nc closed the account due to not being able to contact anyone regarding the account?

Try the unclaimed property website for the State of North Carolina. Put in unclaimed property North Carolina in a google search. The site you want will be free. There are companies out there that charge you to help recover any assets but you should not need to pay anyone if you have a claim.

You most likely will need your grandmother's social security number.
