where do i start to find how much money was in an mutual fund account that was left to me 21 yeARS AGO BUT WAS CLOSED BY THE state of nc due to inability to contact someone regarding the said account? how do i retrieve this money?

Go to the NC State Treasurer's office and file a claim for unclaimed funds.
