Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in North Carolina

Will

My mother's will states that there will be no appraisals and no inventory. Does this over ride state laws? What financial records must be presented and for how many years back?

Re: Will

Apparently your mother did not think that her property required any appraisals or inventory. Unless something has changed,e.g. she acquired an art musuem or an extensive stock portfolio, I doubt the court would override her wishes. That is what a will is for - to control property after death.

Re: Will

After the will is probated, and letters issued, you will need to prepare an inventory and list of claims. File that with the court, you'll get an order approving it. That will usually end most situations. Please note that you will have to have an attorney represent you in this matter.
