Legal Question in Workers Comp in North Carolina
I'm 40 years old and permanently disabled due to a work accident. It's almost time to settle. How much am I entitled to.

Each case is different. You should generally consider the amount of exposure the carrier has for payment of future indemnity and medical benefits. You should talk with an experienced workers' compensation attorney to assist you in evaluation your case and confirming whether or not a final settlement is appropriate at all.
Also, go to the NC Industrial Commission website for more information, and particularly a copy of their Bulletin of helpful information. You can link there from our site at ncworkcomp.com. Have you applied for Social Security disability?

If you are disabled from all competitive jobs, you need an attorney right away. Representing yourself is like home surgery - don't do it. Be sure to apply for Social Security disability. Any workers' comp settlement agreement should include special language to minimize the offset (reduction) in your SSDI benefits. See ncworkcomp.com for further information.
Good luck, George
