Settlement will depend on a number of issues. How much time you have missed from work, what permanent restrictions you may have as a result of the injury and whether the employer can accomodate those restrictions with a "suitable" job as it is defined by the NC General Statutes and relevant case law. It will also depend on what rating you have been assigned by the physician. Settlement of a workers' compensation claim is a very complicated matter with many small details that need to be considered. I would suggest that you consult with an attorney to go over the facts and circumstances around your case to get a better idea of the settlement value. I think of it like this: If your TV breaks, do you take it to the auto mechanic for repair? Of course not, you take the problem to the person with the skills and knowledge to get problem fixed in a way that will benefit you most. In this case, that is an experienced workers' comp attorney.
