Legal Question in Workers Comp in North Carolina

right to view financial records/bank statements

I work for a church pre school, and last month my co-worker and I were told we were only going to be paid for half of the time we actually worked because there was not enough $ in the account. We opened the bank statement and saw there was plenty of $ in the account. The bank statement of a non-profit agency is public record, right? If addressed to the program and not to a person we're okay to open it, right? We want to confront them but we're not sure about our rights to open the bank statements. Also, does any state worker's comp law cover such a program, what are our chances of getting paid? Thanks.

Not sure about your right to open the mail, and

I seriously doubt workers' compensation is applicable to your situation.

However, you should contact the Wage & Hour Division of the NC Dept. of Labor/U.S. Dept. of Labor. Time deadlines may apply, so you want to investigate your options there ASAP. Links can be found at ncdisability.com. Good luck!
