Legal Question in Business Law in North Dakota
Personal Training Business
I would like to open an in-home personal training business. I am wondering what forms and/or other information is needed to assure that I am safe from being held liable for injuries as long as I am not negligent. I have the education necessary to perform this business but with any form of exercise there is always the risk of injury or death due to putting stress on the body on order to make it stronger. I would appreciate a response so I have an idea where to start my planning. Thank You, Nicole

Re: Personal Training Business
The first line of defense for any business is insurance. Since it is not possible to forsee all circumstances in which liability might be imposed, insurance covers most contingencies which could occur.
Since homeowners insurance policies generally do not cover business or commercial operations in the family home, you should speak with your agent about coverage appropriate to your needs.
Plan carefully, use common sense, eliminate all possible situations in which someone could be harmed, and keep your fingers crossed.
