Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Dakota

2nd wage garnishment

I live and work in ND. I already have one garnishment (for 25% of my disposable income). A second company is now going to put a garnishment on my income. The company I work for insists on direct deposit, I am not allowed to have a checking account but I do have a savings account (only because of the direct deposit). Since the second company won't be able to recieve payment from the garnishment will they be able to freeze my savings account?

Yes!

Presumably there is a collection attorney. Standard procedure is to garnish wages, lien real estate and levy bank accounts. Its a three prong attack in an effort to find something.

Bank accounts are levied upon by sending restraining orders to all banks in the area, which in ND probably means all banks. This way, they do no have to know specifically where you bank.
