Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Dakota

Police Report- What happens next?

Early last summer, a friend, who is a minor (15 at the time), and I (19) engaged in kissing and brief touching. Her parents reported it to the police recently and I have not heard anything in 5 weeks except that the case was moved to the county the incident took place in.

1. What is a police report?

2. What does it mean to have one filed against you?

3. How do the police decide it is worth acting upon?

4. Does the report close automatically after a certain period of time?

Re: Police Report- What happens next?

It probably depends on when this occurred, the laws in ND changed at of Aug 1st 2007. It will also depend on the exact date of your birthdays. You certainly should obtain legal representation.
