Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Dakota

I slipped getting out of this girls truck and broke the vent shade in accident by grabbing it the girl who was really drunk freaks out and starts screaming at me i offer to pay for it but she Is wasted and out of control so i leave after abiyt a month i get arrested and charged with criminal mischief class a misd. For the vent shade and A windshield.. i lived right across the street and no cops came to question me about any damage to anything so i didnt know she had called the cops with this story and added in a windshield what do i do i make to much money for a court appointed attrney and not enough to hire one What do i do ?

You may have a defense. Based on the facts you've mentioned, this does not appear intentional or reckless. Not enough to prove criminal intent in my opinion. Of course, the girl may remember things differently. Unfortunately, only truly impoverished people qualify for appointed counsel. If you shop around, you could probably find an attorney willing to do this case for $1,500.
