Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Dakota
I am on SSI and was recently hospitalized, thus putting all of my available money into medical costs. Recently I went to court for a separate criminal matter- a misdemeanor, and my attorney and I worked out a schedule to pay his fees. Now that I am almost done paying him, I am not able to due to the expenses incurred due to medical circumstances beyond my control (medications that have to be purchased to keep my kidneys functioning, etc.) I am trying to convince my attorney that I'll be happy to pay him- we just need to work out a separate arrangement for the last amount owed...but if he is unwilling to budge on the issue, can I be arrested, or is it a violation of my probation to not pay my defense lawyer's bill or to pay it late? Thanks.
