Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Dakota

out of state warrant

If someone has an out of state warrant for criminal mischief and recieves a letter at their address stating they need to respond to avoid being served, is it true that they would come from out of state to do this? Would they use law enforcement in my state? Can I deal with this with a lawyer and not go back to that state? I had given a statement clearly stating what I had done, and that I had permission from the person to do so. I told the law enforcement there I felt it was bogus and an attempt at harrasment and that I just wanted to leave and get away from this person, which I did. And now a year later I get this letter.

Re: out of state warrant

Depending on the warrant they could use your local law enforcement to apprehend you. It is probable that you have a misdemeanor warrant and it may be possible to take care of that charge without coming back to North Dakota. Contact me if you need representation.
