Slid down ramp and hit the garage door

Hi.

I slid down my apartment ramp while going into my underground garage because it was snowing and the apartment had not turned the ground heaters on. The gate did not open quick enough and damaged my hood. The apartment claims it is not their fault that i slid. Can i take them to a small claims court since there is no signs that it was slippery and they had the heaters off?

HOw much damage? Don't you have insurance? Have you been sued yet for damage to gate?
