Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio
I am being sued from a debt collector for the sum of 16k....
Chase Bank was the original owner of this debt before selling it to a couple of collectors.
Anyway when I was trying to work with Chase Bank - they were unwilling to work with me & sold the my debt right away.
I had lost my job & slowly my financial situation has gotten even worse. I was able to work with Capital One's Hardship program & in a few months I will have them paid off...
I am still actively looking for steady income & I am working on line to obtain a certification in Personal Training, in which I will be completely finished by the end of the year. Right now I am helping out a family member & doing a few side jobs. I am averaging around $400 a month. I do not own a house or a car. I am fortunate to have family members to stay with. With today's economy I will not borrow money from family. The credit cards I have I am trying to pay off. I understand that I owe the money, but I can not pay them & they don't seem willing to work with me, just take me to court & try to garnish what wages I barely make.
Please help...the 28th of Oct they are trying to take me to court again, but I have nothing to say or give. Should I call the debt collector myself to see if they would consider working out a payment plan that I can leave with. Thanks for your help.

Many times, these debt collection companies cut corners while purchasing debt from a larger company. As a result, many of their cases are legally difficient. I have helped a lot of folks negotiate and avoid these types of claims.
