Legal Question in Disability Law in Ohio

contracts with the Deaf without interpreters leading to defrauding the Deaf

Help!!! My brother has been defrauded out of several hundreds of thousands of dollars. Isn't there a Federal law that is part of the ADA that makes it illegal to sign contracts with Deaf individuals without an interpreter present. If so, please send me the part of the ADA that states that.

There is no federal law

There is no federal law requiring the use of an interpreter when signing a contract. It may or may not be fraud. Fraud requires a material misrepresentation. If the person signing just didnt understand the contract or didnt read it he is stuck with it. he needs to have someone review is case in detail.

Run to the attorney general in your state!

The consumer protection division of your state attorney general will listen to your brother's facts and determine if there is fraud. He and you will lose nothing by going there and telling his story. Good luck! Hundreds of 1000s? Sounds fishy to me. Good luck.
