Legal Question in Disability Law in Ohio
We have legal custody of our 14 -yr. granddaughter. She has ADHD and Bi-Polar Disorder which she receives daily medication, frequent counseling and weekly case management services. In spite of this help, she is still very impulsive, immature, extremely moody and needs adult supervision for her safety. She's afraid to be left alone. She's too old to attend the daily summer camp. I put in to take off only 6 weeks this summer, because her aunt can help watch her the other 4 weeks of summer. They have turned me down, even though her psychologist has filled out the paperwork. I think it's discrimination due to the "mental health" instead of physical health-say like seizures or diabetes, etc. Help!

I am sorry to hear about your circumstances. Unfortunately, I do not practice employment law; therefore, I am not going to be able to answer your specific questions, nor will I be representing you. I urge you to consult immediately with other lawyers regarding your potential legal rights. Your local bar association may have a lawyer referral service that can provide you with the names of some lawyers near you who handle these types of matters. In the alternative, you may want to contact the Columbus Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service (telephone number 614-221-4112; web address http://www.peoplesbar.org/findingalawyer/referral_form.php). I am sorry I cannot help you.
