Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Ohio

Court could not find my file

I went into a court for an initial appearance for a DUI charge for which I was going to put in a plea of not guilty, and when my lawyer was asking the different areas of the court to see the papers for my file they were not able to find the papers. My lawyer went into the office and talked with someone from the court and when he came out he said the lady in the office would call me in and ask me to sign something, and after telling me that my lawyer left. I was called into the office but was never asked to sign anything because they still didn't have my file. I was told they would send me something in the mail and that I could leave. Is it normal to go in for a court appearance and have to court not have any information about your case? Is there a chance I could somehow get in trouble for not signing anything on the day I was supposed to be at court? Did my lawyer handle the situation properly?

The sitation happens often actually, the problem could arise if your lawyer didn't tie everything up before he left - the quick solution is to call the court and give them your name and find out if there's a warrant for you.
