Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Ohio
bankruptcy and federal taxes
Is it possible to file bankruptcy and have federal tax liens discharged? The taxes owed are from 1997 and 1992, and the liens are against a mortgaged house.

Re: bankruptcy and federal taxes
As usual, the answer to your question is maybe. Some tax obligations are dischargeable in bankruptcy and some are not. I recommend that you talk to an attorney skilled in both bankruptcy and tax disputes to help resolve your questions since each case is different. A colleague in our office has written a couple articles on this issue. You can find them at http://PhillipsLawFirm.com. Good Luck.
