Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Ohio

Bankruptcy or Foreclosure

I have filed for divorce after 15 years of marriage, my husband has had a mistress for 7+ years. He has left me with no financial support at all, would it be best for me to file bankruptcy or to let the bank foreclose on the house and let them repo my vehicle? We also have 2 large credit card debts. What do you advise? Is it easier to get credit after a foreclosure, or bankruptcy or does it matter? I have had excellent credit for the past 30 years and I hate to see it ruined. Thanks

Re: Bankruptcy or Foreclosure

If there is a divorce case already pending, a bankruptcy filing will suspend it. Unless you are in imminent danger of losing the house and car, bankruptcy, if appropriate, should wait until after the divorce is final, as the decree may effect some provisions of the bankruptcy.
