Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Ohio
bankruptcy and income tax refund
We recieved our income tax refund and needed the money to catch up on bills and replace our stove and buy needed items for our children. We were going to use it to pay off some of our credit cards but it ran out. Now we need to file for bankruptcy. We have kept all of our recipts for what was purchased. Will this cause us problems for filing since we spent our refund?

Re: bankruptcy and income tax refund
Normally this should not be a problem since you used the refund for basic living expenses. You should gather up and save the receipts, as well as a copy of your refund check or record of the deposit. The Trustee may ask for documentation of your spending, depending on the amount.
