Certificate of Deposits Exempt from bankruptcy?
Are Certificate of Deposits generally exempt from bankruptcy? If they are, or are partially, to what dollar value are they exempt?
Thank you

Yes, some CDs may be exemptable from your bankruptcy but exemption allowances are determined by each state. Please go to my friend's website who has a list of all the bankruptcy courts. Visit your court's website and you can find information on the exemption allowances for your state. The website URL is http://www.lawyerassistant.com/directory/find_your_bankruptcy_court.html

If this is an Ohio bankruptcy, the most that can be exempted is $ 400.00 under ORC 2329.66. There are other factors to be considered as well.
