Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Ohio
Civil lawsuit won but defendent filed bankruptcy, can we still collect?
I had a civil lawsuit against someone and I won a judgement of $40K, shortly before judgement, defendent transferred his two properties into is parent's names and then filed bankruptcy. Is there anyway that I can still collect the $40K judgement that I won? Case took place in 11/98

If you did not receive notice of the bankruptcy, then it does not apply to you, so you can start collection action. However, the debtor can move to reopen the BK and add the judgment to it, so you chances of getting anything are pretty slim.
