It depends. A pending foreclosure action will be halted by a bankruptcy filing, but whether you will eventually lose your house or not may depend on whether you can afford to make payments moving forward. If you are in arrears on your home and the civil suit is not a foreclosure, you may want to explore both bankruptcy and a mortgage loan modification application with the lender.
As far as your businesses are concerned, this is a complicated question and very much depends on whether they can survive as going concerns. Sitting down with an attorney and going over your corporate reports and records is a must.
